The Civilian Contribution
This series is about the exploits of the underground resistance against the Germans occupying France during WWII. It dramatically recounts how civilian men and women were trained by the British and sent to France as spies to assist the French Resistance forces. These recruits were drawn from British and foreign nationals who could pass themselves off as French locals and report covertly back to England information that would help the Allied war effort.
Most were sent to France after a short, intensive training program. This would inevitably produce graduates who didn't have time to eliminate their personal flaws and these flaws would sometimes place them in great danger. That allows us to relate to the characters we meet, given their rudimentary training.

Terrific series about life in Occupied France during World War II
Great period appeal. Makes you understand what it was like to live in Occupied France and accurately portrays the brutality of the Nazis. Tells about the brave British soldiers and telegraph operators who jettisoned into France in order to bolster the work of the French Resistance and prepare them for Allied landings. . The plots are infused with romantic liaisons and other elements of personal drama as well.
