The Cold Rush/Camp-Arctica [HD]

My grandkids love them
My grandkids love them. It is hard to find Fanboy and Chum Chum anywhere. They are waiting for the next season to come out.

Not anywhere near as funny as season 1
I'm not sure what happened between s1 and s2 but the stories and dialog are not as funny. I don't know if the show got a new writer or producer but the descent into gross-out humor is very reminiscent of what happened to Spongebob after season 3. The characters were dumbed down and lost most, if not all of what made them funny. Spongebob's incredible decline was due to a change in the direction of the cartoon brought about by new writers, new artists and a new producer after the creator stepped aside. Sadly, I suspect that is also what has happened here. If this is not corrected in season 3 the show will not last another season.

good show
great show, hilarious....kids love it...wish the streaming was better however...glad amazon has season 2 and above, been harder to find

Dexter Dodgeball / Rasslor / Dexter's Assistant

Gloom and Doom and Things Go Boom...
In Dexter's Labratory Lives The Smartest Boy You've Ever Seen! This is a classic series from the 1990's and from what many consider to be the peak of Cartoon Network's programming. Created by Genndy Tartakovsky, the mind that would later bring us such classic series as Samurai Jack and Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003-05), Dexter's Lab is a truly wonderful series on so many levels. Finally being properly released on DVD this complete first season set will contain the following 13 twenty two minute episodes spread across 2-discs:

DISC 1
1 Deedeemensional, Dial M for Monkey: Magmanamus, Maternal Combat
2 Dexter Dodgeball, Dial M For Monkey: Rasslor, Dexter's Assistant
3 Dexter's Rival, Dial M For Monkey: Simion, Old Man Dexter
4 Double Trouble, Dexter's Lab: A Story, Changes
5 Jurassic Pooch, Dial M For Monkey: Orgon Grindor, Dimwit Dexter
6 Dee Dee's Room, Dial M For Monkey: Huntor, The Big Sister
7 Star Spangled Sidekicks, The Justice Friends:...

Scientifically Spectacular
What a fine day... for science ! And it should be when you own a copy of "Dexter's Laboratory: Season 1" on DVD for the first time. The first 13 episodes stars the little fellow with a big brain, Dexter, and his spontaneous sister, Dee Dee, in the following episodes:

"Maternal Combat" - Mother is feeling under the weather, so Dexter invents a robot version of her to cook, clean, and do whatever he says.
"Dexter Dodgeball" - Tired of being pelted by endless dodgeballs, Dexter invents a robo-suit that will let him play HIS way !
"Dexter's Rival" - Introducing Mandark, who has bigger smarts and a better lab. But he has a big weakness to Dexter's advantage: Dee Dee !
"Old Man Dexter" - In order to watch a late-night movie, Dexter makes a device that will make him an adult. Unfortunately, it turns him into an old-timer.
"The Big Sister" - Dee Dee eats an experimental cookie that makes her gigantic. It's up to Dexter to fix this mess.
"Babysitter...

One of the best...
At last, one of the very best animated shows ever will finally be released on DVD. I have already pre-ordered mine! Dexter's family is hilarious, the mom who always wears rubber gloves to avoid any and all germs, the dad who fancies himself maybe a little more, say an FBI agent, and of course, Dexter's little sister, DeeDee, who is always getting into Dexter's stuff, as any little sister would.

Baby Wants Blings

I love this show
I think this is just so much fun! I love watching all of the brides find their perfect dresses, and the drama with their friends.

Best show
I watch this with my mom and when I found out Miranda Lambert was on here with the Pistol Annie's I just knew I needed to get it. This show is the best. I love it.

Perfect episode from the bride Tamlyn herself!!
I absolutely love the way my episode turned out! Hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did! If you haven't seen the episode I encourage you to watch and if you're a bride searching for a dress I can assure you that you'll find that perfect gown at Bridal's by Lori!

Last Chance [HD]

Reply to Richard Miller's testimony
So had a number of people tell me about this post getting negative (Richard Miller's (RM) comments) and decided to reply. Yukon Men is a reality TV show which does not mean everything you see and hear is completely as happened. For instance for starters: where are the cameramen? Instead of recognizing that it is one of the best on TV as far as portraying something real RM spends his time making negative comments using his own misinformation. For one example: How he watches me shopping "all the time in Fairbanks" for food I'll never figure. Last time I was there was last spring - 7 months ago. Usually make two trips a year there to begin with and one time went years without a trip and so what anyway. I run a youth fishcamp in summer for sometimes up to 30 kids and in winter run a teen center in the village. I buy 50 boxes of food each year for those things alone. I can still state that I have have never bought fish or meat in the village store once in my 40 years here (except hotdogs...

Yukon Men Season 1
I decided to try out this show because I was a faithful watcher of "Flying Alaska" and am one of "Gold Rush Alaska." I would love to visit Alaska someday, so I figured "Yukon men" could be fun to watch and see how everyone lives and the potentials for an average person to make it through the tough weather & seasonal conditions there. Yukon Men is a show with several families that focus on how they live and try to make it in Alaska. It seems most of the men and families rely on their surroundings for food, work and day to day living. I'm impressed with the whole towns "family" atmosphere, something I definetly don't see in my small town. Everyone in the area helps each other out in times of need, and there not even kin to each other. I enjoyed watching this program to be able to see the beautiful scenery, wilderness, animals, adventure and struggles to survive. Once again the possiblities of an average person being able to try it out. These people...

Fascinating!
This show is amazing. It will make you feel absolutely LAZY! Besides how hard they all work to sustain themselves, the sense of community and support for the entire village is touching. We can all learn something from this group! I wish we could see more of the men's families and how the wives handle it day to day.

Happily Ever After?

Charmingly Sweet and Funny
I normally hate reality TV, but this was something original so I decided to give it a shot. Looking for love in all the wrong places at the beginning these guys man up. It's an emotional roller coaster that I'm am glad I got to watch. Seeing these rich powerful men be truly touched when they cater at a wedding is moving. And when they go to church to cheer up one of the princes and he is moved to tears I was too. TLC selected the perfect mix of suave and endearing when it came to casting. I hope we get another season.

Really well done tv, @ cheaper price than itunes
I found the concept of this show mildly entertaining, so I was glad that amazon had it available for an inexpensive price. I quickly got sucked into the series and now I'm so sad to see it end. This is one of my favorite reality tv shows ever, and it's so much better quality than the overproduced, formulaic stuff TLC usually has. I really loved this show. The casting was great: the guys alternately irritated me or moved me to tears but they were always interesting.

It's rare to see social class presented in such an open, thoughtful way...especially in the US, where we like to pretend it doesn't exist. As a viewer, you really got a sense for how the privileged lives of nobility had hampered these guys' ability to function in world outside of their bubble. It's bot glamorous, and sad at the same time. The last episode was really the best, especially the way one of the women smacked down her suitor for living off his parents' money and not getting a job. Bam!

I...

Secret Princes
I missed the last episode of this series and thought to try here. I was thrilled to see the show was available only to find out that the last episode "Happily Ever After" was not available. Why are 4 of them available, but the finale is not?

Andy Williams: Moon River & Me

Christmas shows at their best
This brings back memories of wonderful Christmas TV shows that the whole family could enjoy together. Andy Williams shows were always the best. Wish they would bring more of these shows back for this new generation to enjoy. I just wish this DVD was of a complete Christmas show and not segments from various shows. Still entertainment at its best though!!!

Andy Williams Christmas Special
What a special treat to revisit this "kinder, gentler" era when wonderful musical variety shows provided wholesome entertainment! This video will be part of our Christmas tradition each year!!

Another great show reminding us when TV was worth watching!
There are few TV shows on today, that I look forward to watching. The era when this show was made,-- I am sad to say,-- is gone!! Shows like the Andy WIlliams Show--made you feel good!! -- can't say that about what is on TV prime time today. I am glad I have Amazon Prime time to be able to watch a good show now and then!!

Crowhaven Farm

Come On Already!...
CROWHAVEN FARM is yet another horror film that deserves an "official" (US) DVD release. It's a wonderfully dark, supernatural tale of witches, satanism, and creepy Puritans! Toss in an eeevil kid named Jennifer, and Hope Lange as the beleaguered heroine, and you've got a 70s TV classic! Maggie (Lange) inherits the property of the title after her relative dies in a car "accident". Of course, we know better! Things start going south very quickly, especially when 10yo Jennifer joins the family! More "accidents" occur, and Maggie becomes increasingly convinced that she and her husband are being attacked by eeevil spirits. If you enjoy any of the great TV horror films from the 1970s, you'll love CROWHAVEN FARM! Highly recommended...

Great TV movie from 70s but a little pricey...
Hope Lange stars in this "Period Piece?" from a lost era. I'm talking about 1970s movie of the week. For all the channels, on demand, instant downloads and crazy ways to deliver a movie to you, there will never be movies like this again. But this is a little pricey and honestly, who knows what you are going to get. Try Googling this title and I bet you find a much better deal. 70s Horror Rock!

PUT THE ABC MOVIE OF THE WEEK SERIES ON DVD!
Enough already with these lame DVD-R releases that won't play in some DVD players. When is a company going to license the entire ABC Movie of the Week series and put it out in volumes on official DVD relases? Most all of those original ABC made for TV films were brilliant and well made and would hold up to today's viewers. So come on, someone please get with the "program" and give us those great ABC Movie Of The Week films that we remember so well from our youth, remastered and restored on official DVD's!

Chapter Eight: Death or Glory

A hidden gem. Amazing.
I watched the first episode. It was amazing. Where has this program been hiding. The price for season 1 and 2 was 2.99 each. I am in shock.

This series may not have had the ratings or something, but it is a really good show. For the price it can not be beat. I was looking for something new and randomly clicked this. Honestly a show like this should have shown up on "latest" episodes area sooner. I would have been watching from the beginning.

possibly slightly biased because I'm hopelessly in love with MEJ
but this show is really incredibly entertaining. I'm actually glad the episodes are as short as they are, it made bingeing on the entire first season much more convenient then with most shows :)

Fun series. Looking foward to season 2.
There are few things I enjoy more in life than watching Marc Evan Jackson silently judge people. His sharp wit is endlessly charming and he shines in the series as the hired gun with the heart of gold. I was surprised how much I was drawn in by the love story as well. It was subtly played and very sweet.

There's great potential here and I hope they continue to develop the series further in season 2.

Finale, Part II [HD]

tv ratings over fashion-not reality, a well orchestrated illusion
if you read the fine print on this show, the producers have the final say on everything, including who gets kicked off as a contestant. most viewers do not know this. they think the judges have the final say. never was this fine print more at work than on this episode when a genuine villain appears among the contestants, treating his client horribly and making an absolutely awful dress for her. the viewer comments have gone through the roof over at the show's website, exactly what the producers want to achieve. this is because this designer was NOT the one eliminated but rather someone else who made a rather tacky dress but the client was delighted with it. villains make for great tv so this contestant became "must keep". this is a serious limitation on all "reality tv" which usually is as orchestrated as its fictional counterparts.

they did the pick the right winner though and i don't think anyone interfered with that. the winning design was an absolutely incredible...

Very Good Opening
We see the fashion show of two looks on Times Square which really ramps up the volume on the series. Our format remains the same. There appear to be several extremely talented designers and as the less talented get eliminated it will be exciting to zero in on their work. The winner this week does a fabulous job. Not only is the evening gown gorgeous but he also manipulated the fabric itself, turning the textile into an art work. I've noticed as the seasons have gone on that fabric manipulation, which is an art technique, seems to be growing in use. This is a really good trend as creating fabric itself which is stunning is certainly a stellar attribute to have in this field.

Ven Budhu Can't Fix My Fat Friends
I love this show but during this episode of "Fix My Friend" the challenge was anything but for the plus sized woman that contestant Ven Budhu was assigned to "Fix." I can't call Ven a designer but must say he makes lovely rosettes on material like frosted roses scooped from a cake and makes knots of fabric here and there.

Ven spent the entire episode complaining about his "Fat" client to all the other designers: to Tim Gunn who's jaw dropped, to the "Fix My Friend" pal who brought her "friend" she said "...I wanted her to look good and to be happy not to be dressed for a funeral..." and finally Ven let his "Fat" client know just how fat she is, how hard it is to designer for her misshapen body, how black sliming fabric can be.. till this girl was in tears throughout the show.

I am so repulsed that Ven got to stay after such a disgraceful display of cruelty to an invited guest who went on the show to be papered not disgraced, humiliated and bullied by this rosette...

This is my husband's favorite show! It's not aired all of the time on The Science Channel, so this dvd set works out great!

Leader of the Pack [HD]

"You make giant mechanical hands and smash stuff. There's nothing normal about you."
What went down five years ago was this crazy experiment in nanotechnology; things went horribly, horribly awry, resulting in nanites released unto the world, these microscopic machine parasites that mutate their biological hosts into mindless, rampaging monsters dubbed E.V.O.s (Exponentially Variegated Organism). Five years later, we run into Rex, a fifteen year old kid and himself an E.V.O. Except that, for some unfathomable reason, Rex has full control over his infection. He demonstrates the ability to manifest mechanical gadgets and weaponry from his limbs. Or he does at least until his biometrics get depleted (basically, this happens when he's stressing out). Rex fights the good fight against the out-of-control monster Evos. Rex can communicate with nanites to some extent, can even absorb nanites from other Evos, thus converting these Evos back to humanity, in effect, curing them.

Rex keeps room and board with the secretive, very constricting Providence group...

Must buy, awesome, give me more!
Fantastic blind buy for animation fans. Really thought this was well done and quite tolerable even for adults. Alot room to branch to sub plots. Now give me more dvds please the wait is too long. Season sets preferably.

a very good tv show
How this product only has 2 reviews when it has been out for 2 years is beyond me. That being said though this show is decent it has well choreographed action scenes good animation and good voice acting. The only reason I gave it 3 stars though is because the writing at times left a lot to be desired. The character development takes to many episodes to get to. Also after season one the episodes became less action and more talking and in all honesty they just became boring. Also I did not like the fact that we rarely got to see doctor holiday in action. She mostly just sits around at providence giving advice to rex and six. I mean she seems to be well capable of taking care of herself so why does she not just go on missions with them. Over all this series was just ok.

I really have enjoyed this. I've watched all the episodes already. (I've had it for two days). The only problem I've had with it, is that the cuss words are blurred out. I would have rather heard the cuss words because I'm not watching it on t.v.

Planning A Country Get-Away? Probably Best To Avoid Moving In To A Creepy Old Orphanage
In the mood for an old fashioned ghost story? You could certainly do worse than the entertaining mini-series "The Secret of Crickley Hall." Adapting the 2006 novel from the prolific Best Selling author James Herbert, BBC fashioned a handsome supernatural tale that has both heart and horror. Stretched over three hour long episodes, the story has the time to develop at its own pace without rushing. Some of the developments can seem a bit far-fetched, as you might expect. But by focusing on character, the mini-series remains grounded due to it having invested the time to actually make you care about the outcome for the lead family. Even as the main saga gets loopier and less faithful to the source material, I always remained connected. Perhaps "The Secret of Crickley Hall" is not the scariest or most realistic ghost story ever made, but that's a rather lofty expectation to have! It was, however, genuinely well executed, well acted, and atmospheric. So I was happy enough to invest the...

Too long
This mini series could have been a tv movie and been over in 2 hours instead of 6. It was a bit tedious to me and not creepy at all. Would I spend 6 dollars on it again? NO way.

This is a great Tv show. Its about a dog that becomes a secret agent and has to save the day from the evil villains. This is also one of my favorite nickelodeon shows.

Repetitive and Recycled
When writing negative customer reviews, the last thing that I am trying to do is offend people who took part in creating the item or product that I am reviewing. But I am sorry to say that the gags in "TUFF Puppy," albeit many of them are laughable and funny when they first pop up, are repetitively brought up again and again throughout the course of that particular episode. Some of the jokes are also recycled from "The Fairly OddParents." It can grow annoying after a while, I am sorry to add.

It does NOT get better than this.
This warped take on the old Jonny Quest adventures features some of the best comic book/sci fi/action adventure hilarity you can imagine. I've been waiting a year for this DVD set to finally come out and it's finally arriving. Sit back, keep the kids away and enjoy. For Adult swim fun, you seriously can't beat the Venture Bros. The voice acting, animation, music, stories, you name it, all 5 stars.

Can't understand why I'm the only one...
I can't figure out why I seem to be one of the few people who thinks the Venture Bros. is one of the funniest cartoons to appear on Cartoon Network.

It is a spoof on the "Superscientist and His Family of Adventuresome Heroes" genre. Instead of being the pre-eminent superscientist, however, Dr. Thaddeus "Rusty" Venture has been, in the words of one character, "riding his father's corpses' coattails for 30 years."

Basically, he's not a very successful superscientist. In fact, he's more adept at getting himself kidnapped, which is why he has Brock Samson, his blonde, rage-prone bodyguard.

His kids, Dean and Hank (who I maintain is a spoof on Freddie from Scobby Doo), are more interested in irritating one another than anything their father wants, and the family is completed by H.E.L.P.E.R., a robot who never once lives up to his name.

Aside from Brock, the Venture clan is pretty much a sad lot, which makes it difficult for The Monarch, Dr...

Cockpits! Booby Traps! Hilarity!
The first thing I'm going to say is this: although this is a cartoon, it is most definitely not for kids! The Venture Bros. deals with a lot of adult situations, and it can get very vulgar and graphic at times. Having said that, this may be one of the best new cartoons I've seen in a long time.

I was never really a big fan of Adult Swim; until I got to college, the only show on the block I had seen was Futurama, which debuted on FOX. While I still don't like overall, it does have its gems, such as Cowboy Bebop (best anime ever!), Aqua Teen Hunger Force (when it was in its prime), and The Venture Bros. The Venture Bros. is a show that most heavily parodies Johnny Quest, though it also draws from Star Wars, DC and Marvel Comics, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and even Kafka's The Metamorphosis.

The plot is as follows; Dr. Thaddeus "Rusty" Venture is the son of Dr. Jonas Venture, one of history's greatest inventors and adventurers. Jonas built up a successful...

The Break

Back Into The Fray: The Second 13 Episodes Of Season One For This Australian Teen Drama
The popular Australian teen import "Dance Academy" has been discovered and embraced by North American audiences after its run on TeenNICK and its availability on Netflix. Its first two seasons are getting an official DVD release, however, for those that want to add it to their permanent DVD collection. I always have to question the marketing thought process behind the decision to split television seasons into different products. I understand, perhaps, if the season airs over two distinct time periods and you want to rush the first batch of episodes to market. But in this case, these are all ready to go. And instead of Season One and Season Two sets with all 26 episodes present, we're getting each Season in Two Volumes of 13 episodes. Truthfully, it doesn't make it any less expensive to the consumer. Are there a bunch of viewers that are going to say "I loved the first half of Season Two, but who wants the second half?" Doubtful and especially so when they are released on the same day...

Excellent show - great dancing, plot, acting - suitable for whole family
This show is great quality - set in Australia. The ballet dancing is real and good. The plots are interesting and dramatic without being too soapy. The characters change over two seasons and it's fun to follow those stories. I was most surprised by how much I like it as an adult and how current it seems without being too edgy. It's a pretty clean show from what I recall. So glad to see good ballet technique from good actors.

Pleased
My 10 year old loved it, Usually when she likes something I find content that I don't wish for her to watch. This show touched some extremely sensitive matters with remarkable tact.

Pilot [HD]

Bryan Fuller has done way better
I'm usually a big fan of anything Bryan Fuller does, but this pilot didn't impress me. I've already forgotten the characters' personalities. I'll watch it if a series airs, but I don't think it will be amazing like other things Fuller has written.

Grandpa knows best
Being a Munsters fantom which is only eclipsed by a wolf hair's breadth by The Addams Family, I decided to inspect this latest media offering presented as a Halloween special. Immediately, I was pleased by the elegant environment displayed apparently, this version takes place in San Francisco, evidenced by the Golden Gate Bridge in the background of the mansion, although the characters are lacking in said character with the exception of Grandpa here portrayed by comic Eddie Izzard, as a truly evil blood-thirsty patriarch; being Count Dracula, & a product of "The Old Country", after all - while the rest of the characters are lackluster, though Marilyn fits the bill perfectly.

This production seems an attempt to "normalize" the family, perhaps to make it somewhat more "believable". Though the point of the series is that these are a clan of monsters who happen to act like most everyone else.

Visually, where the true punchline is, it's almost like The Munsters...

Would have been a fun series.
I love Bryan Fuller's series (Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me, Hannibal) so I was looking forward to giving this a look . It's fun, but it IS a pilot, so much of it is concerned with setting up the new Munster's premise. It's a bit darker than I expected, with Eddie Izzard being dead creepy as Grandpa. If they'd green-lighted the series, I'd have watched it, but I can see why they didn't. The horror/comedy thing is a tough sell (trust me, I know).Still, worth a look, if you'd like to see how a talented cast and writer handled a modern rebooting of The Munsters.

GRIT by Brit Ultimate Body Burn

So much fun yet gets the job done!
I definitely recommend this video. GRIT by Brit is a like a newer, younger, more athletic version of Turbo Jam. (I'm Turbo Jam fan btw) I like that I can dance with moves and have fun but also do some intensity drills and feel super strong. This is a great pick to get you through the holidays!

Awesome workout!
This DVD is tough! You get everything you need in 30 minutes - great for getting your workout in if you have little time to spare. Brit's energy is amazing and you see everyone sweating so you know its working. The pushups at the end are killer and so are the abs. Great job, Brit! Can't wait for Volume 2!

Fitness DVD for the Real Woman
I have attended Brit's classes at a gym and they are always packed. She brings so much energy to the classes at the gym so I was excited to learn about her fitness dvd.
The dvd is simple to learn the moves and also find your fitness level. With 3 different levels to workout on, you can sweat and tone at your own level without changing the dvds.

What I love about the dvd is the how Brit is working out in real time with you. She is sweating just as hard as I was during the dvd, which means I am really working out!

This is a great beginner dvd and I love the story behind it. It's very affordable and easy to do especially while traveling. Just pop in the dvd, press play and sweat. I enjoyed the dvd and also the site. She has a lot to offer and I am already ready to see the second volume.

Note: I was able to purchase mine before the public and test it. I have not been compensated financially for this post.

Grilled Cheese Deluxe / The Unicorns Have Got To Go [HD]

Slacker Nirvana
The ironically named "Regular Show" deals with the adventures of two young adult slackers whose main aim in life seems to be coasting through their jobs as park groundskeepers while doing as little actual work as possible. Given that this is a cartoon, it isn't terribly surprising that these characters are anthropomorphic animals: the central pair are Mordecai, a blue-jay, and Rigby, a racoon. However, once we depart from that launching point things grow progressively more strange. For example, their boss at the park is Benson: a walking, talking gumball machine. Occasionally we even get to hear the gumballs rattling around inside this decidedly sour personality! Nevertheless, ordinary humans too are also often found wandering through this rather odd universe.

The stories generally start out with Mordecai and Rigby facing a relatively mundane problem, such as wanting to slack off work and go play video games. However, things quickly spiral into surreal, and potentially even...

The Tenants [HD]

Wonderfully horrifying....
This episode frightened even my jaded children...I should look for my own dybbuk box. I love being horrified & Paranormal Witness rarely fails...

Good Show
Most of these are really great shows; but, why is it that [usually] the husbands, boyfriends, brothers, boy-friends, are almost always super !!JERKS!!about what their friends and lovers are going through. If my husband ever laughed at me like that, well.....
They don't have to believe them, but they could just listen to, and comfort them. [IMOHO]
I also like that these shows are told from the first-person perspective, I don't mind narration, but this is a refreshing change. Believe me, if you like shows like 'A Haunting', 'My Ghost Story~caught on video', or even Haunted History; it's nearly a sure bet you won't be disappointed.
One last thing; I find this show a bit scarier than others in it's genre.

SCARIEST EPISODE EVER
I must admit I watch a lot of these shows. But, I do find the Paranormal Witness to be one of my favorites. This episode, by far, is one of the scariest things I have ever watched! I do find that there are even some questions that still do need to be answered and I hope that after this airs, a serious paranormal team investigates this building and reports its findings. Hope you enjoy......

Angel Rodriguez (HBO)

Great Performances, But A Lack Of Character Insight, Make For An Insignificant "Angel"
I'm not sure what I was supposed to be left with after viewing "Angel Rodriguez"--a slight, well meaning drama that had it's premiere on HBO. Restrained and dignified performances by Jonan Everett and Rachel Griffiths are definitely worth watching. The slice-of-life approach is interesting--we seem to be getting just enough information to want to follow these characters, but ultimately not enough to understand them. And however much I wanted to recommend and like "Angel Rodriguez"--I'm afraid it really just left me feeling a bit empty.

Angel, played by Everett, is a high school senior. He has been thrown out of his house by his father and is now trying to make his way on the streets. Angel, as presented, is an intelligent kid with loads of potential. He has quite a few friends, computer savvy, decent grades, and a well spoken and polite manner--it's a thoughtful portrait of a relatively normal kid. Apparently he doesn't get along with his father's girlfriend which is...

A day in the life . . .
This striking HBO film by director Jim McKay portrays a day in the life of what the media would call a "throwaway kid." Rejected by his parents, with no home, he continues going to high school and has plans some day to have his own computer company - not a far-fetched goal, as he is clearly bright and knowledgeable about computers. But with his back against the wall, and befriended only by other marginal kids, his only lifeline is a school counselor who tries to keep him from being defeated by the circumstances of his life.

McKay's portrayal of his central character, Angel, is both gentle and realistic. He knows that the boy has both strengths and weaknesses. Tempted to steal from someone who has given him a place to stay for the night, he steals. And we learn that he is capable of a murderous rage. But there's also a struggle going on in him to persevere, be responsible, and not give up hope. This mixture of traits makes him a compelling study in youthful complexity. The...

Insightful day in the life film
"Angel Rodriguez" is a made-for-HBO film about a teenager who's trying to get his life together. Angel, played by Jonan Everett, is first seen moving into his high school counselor Nicole's (Rachel Griffiths) spare bedroom because his Dad kicked him out.

Angel's definitely a likable guy. He's got plenty of friends, including Raymond (Wallace Little), good grades, and he's a talented programmer. So, why's he out on the street? His Dad alleges the kid's a liar and a thief, but it seems more like Angel's inconvenient since Daddy's got a new girlfriend, who doesn't get along with Angel.

Nicole, Angel's counselor, is taking a pretty big risk giving a high school kid seeming cart blanche access to her home and her house keys with nary a blink.

"Angel" had me watching attentively for more, but the script didn't precisely provide it. The actors did and I wished I could have seen more than just this short 'slice of life' with some serious inconsistencies...

Boston Blackie - Volume 03

Poor Quality video
I bought this and volumes 2-4 for my dad who's a Boston Blackie fan. Unfortunately, the quality of the video is poor. It is likely a public domain copy dubbed to disc. It's not restored or improved in any way and it's not uncommon for the DVD to just stop and start. It could be the player, but the fact the picture quality is so poor, it's not worth the viewing.

Boston Blackie with Kent Taylor Volume 3
Boston Blackie defined cool long before Robert Michum in Thunder Road and Steve McQueen a generation later. With his dog Whitey (in some episodes) and girlfriend Mary and always behind the wheel of a custom convertible, he cruises early 1950s LA, invariably saving the day. A great period piece which establishes the "cool private eye with killer car and feisty girlfriend" formula that became the model for every TV series since, from 77 Sunset Strip to Miami Vice and Private Eye to Burn Notice.

The David Susskind Show: An Interview with Henny Youngman

One-liner comedian interview + celebrity event crashers from 1984 TV show
Those who remember the Golden Age of the TV talk show, fondly remember producer David Susskind, who for nearly 30 years interviewed celebrities - whether entertainment or political - on his weekly show. It began on local New York City television in 1958 on the independent TV station WNTA. (The same station that aired his "Play of the Week Series") When WNTA became a public broadcasting station, the show - "Open End" went into syndication. It also changed its name sometimes to "The David Susskind Show"

Unlike the Dick Cavett Show - which I have devoured on DVD - Susskind was more serious in interviewing a guest during his one- hour or two-hour show (less commercials). I'd compare him more with Charlie Rose - but with a decidedly New York accent. And he could be sarcastic.

To my knowledge none of the "Open End" shows has been available on home video until last year when S'more Entertainment began releasing them (a two-hour Jerry Lewis interview was the first)...

It is NOT a full interview with Henny Youngman!!
The running time says '58 minutes' - but about 37/38 minutes is David Susskind with Henny and NO audience. David's questions were NOT very good. Henny did a great job answering him.
Then the rest of the show is WITHOUT Henny - interviewing 5 guys to trick their ways into getting their pictures taken with celebrities.

Want something better about Henny? Read his autobiography 'Take my Life, Please'

THE MAN'S NAME IS HENNY YOUNGMAN
Too bad Amazon doesn't invest in someone who actually knows the name of the celebrity being interviewed here
or
didn't read the press release
or
didn't hire a proof reader

Boston Blackie - Volume 04

Memory
My wife has been telling me about Boston Blackie for 40 years. I got the video. It was pretty much the way she remember it. I can now converse with her about it. The plot and acting were ok.

Investigation

Campy but fun
This show is very campy to me, but it is a show I unjoy watching. It is set in and made in Australia, so some of the dialect can confuse, but all in all, I think it is a cute show, and Kiki and Zoe, the aliens mentioned in the title, are somewhat innocent to Earth and it's ways, and human emotions are alien to them, at first, but with earthling Amber and her friends to help, they are getting along just fine. But they, especially Zoe, LOVE to surf, and since the only reason they ventured here was to surf, the title makes sense.

campy
It's fun to watch,a bit campy but overall just a teen tv show.
If you liked h2o,I think you will enjoy this.

Alien Surf Girls
I watched this show and liked it at first. After awhile I just stopped liking it. It got off track to me.

Super Villain's Lair [HD]

Great example of forced perspective. Will use as a learning example in art class careers.
I hope they continue to have another season 1 is not enough. It was interesting to see the differences between designers.

This show was a treat. The entire series was enlightening. Too bad there wasn't more time for each idea. Hopefully the series will continue and grow.
The contestants in this episode ARE NOT Charlotte and Roger. They Are CAROL and TUDOR. Major faux pas-Amazon.Ck with SyFy Channel. Can You fix it? Thanks for correcting the names!

Subjectified: Nine Young Women Talk about Sex

Great Educational Tool
I was pleased to be able to use this product for instructional purposes, during my tenure as a camp counselor in Upstate New York. Whilst the subject matter may at first seem inappropriate for teen audiences, the film was in fact made in a tasteful way: a tad risque, but never straying completely into the realm of Russian pornography (lolz). Following our screening of Subjectified at Camp Wantacheehawtakanook, I was more than satisfied with the thoughtful discussion that ensued between campers and fellow counselors, and I am looking forward to using this piece next year. I've heard (in educational circles) that the film-maker may release a set of didactic flashcards to accompany the film- clearly he or she is dedicated to our youngsters, and for good reason: I for one have noticed that the streets are increasingly crowded with sexually repressed loonies too concerned with a roll in the proverbial Adirondack barn hay-stack, with little understanding, anxiety, or even appreciation for...

Watch that Egg!

Its a tragedy they only made a limited number of episodes.
Such a well made kids show. Appropriate for a wide range of kids. My 1 year old loved it and still does at 2.5 years, though it will entertain at least to 5 years, maybe even to 7. Bright colors, excellent humor, well written stories, music and songs. None of these displays of extreme emotions or over the top behavior that so many other shows rely on nowadays. Its not a show where everyone is yelling and running the entire time under tense situations. Its laid back and funny. A little more advanced concepts but less educational instruction than Daniel Tiger. Less advanced than Dinosaur Train. Maybe the same speed emotionally as Sesame Street but funnier. Wish there was merchandise. We have searched the internet for purple gorillas but not luck. Please continue this great concept and make more episodes for us.

Rodelinda

A Joy for Ear and Eye
First things first: You don't have to be a Renee Fleming groupie to like the Metropolitan Opera's fine production of Rodelinda. Fleming may not be the greatest baroque stylist, but she has a beautiful voice, and (quoting Marion Rosenberg) "she uses it fearlessly and with unsparing commitment." James Oestreich in The New York Times writes that "she threw herself and her voice wholeheartedly into the considerable drama."

About the other singers there can be no complaint. Andreas Scholl (deposed King Bertarido, who has faked his own death) is one of today's most accomplished countertenors, and Iestyn Davies (counselor Unulfo) makes a notable Met debut. Mezzo Stephanie Blythe (Eudige, the king's sister) is a highly impressive veteran. Tenor Joseph Kaiser (the pretender Grimoaldo, her fiance) and bass-baritone Shenyang (Garibaldo) are strong newcomers. Harry Bicket leads the fine cast and Met Orchestra in a stylish performance.

Stephen Wadsworth's...

Handel triumphs at the MET
I left the HD broadcast at the movie theater, when this presentation originally aired, in a state of euphoria. Something about the fun of the movie theater opera experience makes objective criticism of these performances difficult. So when I got this DVD, it was the first time I was able to think about the performance a little more objectively.

The technical details are all just fine: plenty of subtitle options, easy to navigate scene selection, and they've included portions of the intermission interviews (with some strange, very obvious edits). The booklet is fairly typical for an opera DVD.

If you are used to listening to Baroque specialists perform this score, the Met orchestra and the nonspecialist singers may come across as a little jarring at first. Though, to my mind, there is no definitive recording on CD of Rodelinda, I have nevertheless become used to two recordings performed by Baroque period ensembles. And so hearing everything, in essence, a...

Brilliant cast in a little-known opera--a gem!
I'm a big Renee Fleming fan, so I ordered this mostly for that, knowing next to nothing about the opera except the bare bones of the plot. But when the opera was over, I found that I truly loved it! Handel has always been one of my favorites, and his score is chock-full of trills, runs, embellishments, and the things that make Handel Handel. I found both Countertenors, in the role of the king and his friend, to be very solid and crisp in their diction and handled the embellished vocal lines beautifully. It can be very easy to rush those lovely lines and blur the notes, but that didn't happen here.
Renee was terrific as the title character, the Queen Rodelinda, who has lost her husband (she thinks) and is imprisoned with her son in a lavish castle. (The set design blew me away, as did the costumes. It's a sumptuous, gorgeous piece. I wanted to move in!). At first the coloratura was a bit blurred, but she came into her own as the performance progressed. Stephanie Blythe was...

The Power of Rejection

A touching performance
In the power of rejection Mikhail Tank offers the audience a series of
vignettes that are in turn soulful, joyful, soothing, angry, haunting
and sweet. He is a performer, a story teller and a mystic. Using a
combination of spoken word, poetry and performance art his messages are
powerful and uplifting. There are layers; everything (the props, the
music, the clothes he wears) seems to have meaning. He has a beautiful
voice and uses it as the instrument it is. His stories touch me.
There are times when I watch it that I feel like he is looking deep
inside me and telling, not only his own story, but mine. Mikhail
takes you on a journey that is quintessentially his own and somehow
gifts it to his audience. I believe there is something here for
everyone.

A Powerful Message
This DVD demonstrates that there is a lot of untapped talent in the world. Not knowing what to expect, I had hoped for something different to add to my video collection. However, this was a pleasant surprise. Mikhail puts his heart and soul into his work, giving a final product that is top notch. What I found most amazing is that he uses various methods to convey a message of hope even when you might feel lost in a world that can be hyper-critical. If you ever feel down and are looking for inspiration, I highly suggest this DVD!

Review from Mona in Canada
The Power of Rejection - a mesmerizing journey through everyday rejection scenarios. Mikhail's portrayal intensifies those scenes to the point of the audience feeling his projected pain, then he offers a simple release. He masterfully shows that if you chose to let go of the bonds of rejection, you can start anew and build a better you.
